The Importance of a Spring Clean Up During the spring clean up your lawn will be de-thatched. This process helps to remove dead, thickened thatch from covering the roots of your lawn allowing positive air flow, sun light, and fertilization of your lawn, helping to encourage root growth which in turn can assist in the need positive air flow and sun light to prosper. The edges along the walkways, driveway and patios will be given a fresh clean look. The entire property will then be blown down and swept clean of sand/salt and debris that has gathered during the winter months. |
The Benefits of a Fertilizer Program STRONG GRASS ROOTS! Strong healthy roots produces the green lush look everyone desires! Strong Roots help to ensure a thick luxurious lawn. A thick lawn can actually help prevent weeds, yes, those bothersome dandelions, clover, chickweed and even crabgrass. |
| Pesticide Program The use of pesticide, when administered by a trained technician, is perfectly safe. Utilizing the correct pesticide or herbicide will help to eliminate the effects of insects and weeds which may damage the root system destroying the lush lawn at an accelerated rate. Weeds, such as Broad leaf Weeds, Common Rosette Weeds, as well as Creeping weeds, can and will create unsightly patches or flowering on your lawn. |
| Pruning, It IS Important Even for the health of your Lawn Pruning is important to maintain the health of both your shrubs, trees and lawn. Keeping the shrubs pruned encourages healthy growth. It enhances the look of your landscape, leaving your home to have an attractive curb appeal. Pruning removes dead, diseased, unsightly limbs. Keeping your shrubs and trees pruned allows other plants within your landscape to receive the proper air and sun they need to thrive. Pruning also allows the grass surrounding the beds and shaded areas to receive the air and sunlight they need as well, helping to lessen the chance of such diseases as dollar spot, brown spot and leaf spot from overcoming your lawn. Such diseases are caused by too much moisture either resulting from improper watering and/or shaded areas, these diseases can be treated with fungicide, proper mowing and proper irrigation. However, sometimes, they will overcome a large portion of your lawn resulting in the need to rebuild your lawn. |
Core Aeration Established lawns tend to get a layer of thatch and/or the soil becomes compacted. Thatch is when the grass roots become compacted (too thick) for water to penetrate. When you water your lawn, the water does not permeate to the root system and the water will remain on top of the lawn, which will then cause diseases. Core-aerations is A process that creates 1,000's of pockets into your lawn, again allowing the water to reach the root system. IT'S SIMPLE, CORE- AERATIONS WILL: 1. LOOSEN THATCH 2. ALLOW WATER TO REACH ROOTS 3. ALLOW FERTILIZER TO REACH ROOTS 4. ALLOW AIR TO PENETRATE TO THE ROOTS 5. SAVE ON SEEDING 6. SAVE ON WATERING 7. REDUCES SOIL COMPACTION 8. REDUCE THE CHANCE OF DISEASE To put it simple, if a plant becomes too big for a pot and the soil is hard and compacted, and has a lack of air, water, and nutrients, Once it is transplanted to a larger pot it begins to loosen the soil, allow air and water to the root zone and the plant begins to flourish. A lawn that is fertilized on a regular schedule (3-5 times per year), should be aerated each year. A lawn that is fertilized less often or not at all should be aerated every other year. |
Leaf Clean Up It is important to remove the fallen leaves, not only because they are messy, but because if left on the lawn they can cause your lawn stress which can lead to a combination of problems. Leaves that remain on a lawn for long periods of time can smother the very root system one has worked hard on building all season. Leaves can cause too much moisture to remain on the surface of your lawn, which in turn can lay the foundation for disease. Such disease can become very costly to treat. A final clean up of the entire property is encouraged as well because the shrub and tree roots can be smothered as well as incur disease promoted by too much moisture. Leaves left on your driveways and walkways can become very slick during wet weather leaving a dangerous situation for the occupants and visitors alike. A lawn that is left clean over the winter season sets the foundation for a healthy lawn all year. |
| Property Maintenance Below is a list and explanation of the benefits of each aspect of property maintenance. Although we do recommend the use of a Full Service Maintenance Program, we do not require it. We will customize each customers program according to the needs of your property and the comfort of your budget. |
| Weekly Lawn Maintenance Proper mowing is one of the most important practices in keeping your lawn healthy. Grasses are like most plants — if you clip off the growing points (the tips of the stems where the new leaves develop), the plants branch out and become denser, which in this case, turns thousands of individual grass plants into a tightly woven turf or a lawn. |
